who are you?
I'm Rowan. I have a deep fascination with electricity pylons. I was a puppeteer once. I am an unabashed fan of clowns (all varieties). As a small child I really liked making illustrated books which were often fully written in code. My other major interests were pirates, history and Pokemon, and I grew up online in the early-mid 00s. As an adult, not a whole lot has changed. I'm a traditional eccentric type.
what are your interests?
My particular fixations at this point in my are art, appreciation of nature and the world at large, and Final Fantasy XIV. Other video games and such too, but mostly that one.
what is the whole world window?
the whole world window is a collection of things created by me, currently under construction. I created it as a place of free expression, where my interests could be explored side-by-side, away from the stresses of modern social media.
what is the meaning of 'the whole world window'?
it is the name of the final track on the album, 'A Little Man and a House and the Whole World Window', by the band Cardiacs. it is my favourite album by my favourite band. it has long fascinated me as a conceptual parallel to the 'world wide web', in spite of the fact that the album was released in 1988, a year before the world wide web came into existence, and it also has a lot of personal significance to me in how it manages to capture my view of the world and my experiences in trying to connect with it. for that reason, it always felt appropriate as a name for a space in which I interact with the world through the internet.
